Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
