Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.
Pereira was sacked on the weekend following the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.
Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the Wolves leadership.
The manager is currently at another club, which would pose a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.
Nevertheless the ex- Luton manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a leading candidate for the vacancy.
The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club board as they begin the search of hiring a new head coach.
O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a shock appointment considering he was released by Wolves in December last year.
The ex- West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to provide any compensation.
