Tributes Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt prepared to share openly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can now put my grief into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced passing more hours together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the production, adding that he doesn't recollect "any day without joy".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A court order placed a embargo on the files to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of murder, with a public database listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the tragedy, public personalities shared varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing provocative statements that were met with immediate backlash by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the detractors last week. Speaking on his show, Rogan labeled the comments as "disturbing" and suggested they revealed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an associate could have acted when the choice to comment on the tragedy was made.
